Tower or Reformer

Published on: 02/2025

In the Reformer vs. Tower match, each has its fan club. It’s a tie!

The Reformer is in the spotlight, but the Tower has also been part of the Pilates journey since its origins. We sometimes hear recommendations like “for legs, go for the Tower,” or “for arms, stick with the Reformer,” or vice versa! Nothing could be further from the truth. Both machines allow for a full-body workout.

So, why alternate and mix the two?

You will be challenged.
You will experience different sensations.
You will discover a wider range of exercises.

In the end, more variety, surprise, and fun!

The Pilates repertoire also offers targeted exercise series that can be performed on both machines.

Tower or Reformer: Which Machine to Choose?

This is a question that comes up often! We are first and foremost a Pilates studio, which is why we have intentionally chosen to offer both machines. Combining them will allow you to diversify your training and enrich your practice. Here are a few details to keep in mind !

For a focus on arms and abs, for example, you can choose an Upper Body class on the Reformer or the Tower, whichever you prefer !

To emphasize legs and glutes, sign up for a Bootie Reformer or Bootie Barre class (on the Tower).

Both classes are of the same intensity and level (Flow), but you will notice a difference in approach. The Reformer is particularly well-suited for squat work, balance exercises, and lying or seated postures. With the Tower, the sequences are often performed standing and are directly inspired by ballet barre work.

We have also designed specific classes for each machine.

Among our most advanced classes, we offer a cardio class, Jump Baby Jump. Just add a jumpboard to your Reformer (a board for jumping while lying down), and you’re off for a boost of endorphins! For the Tower, we dreamed of an equivalent class where thrill-seekers could push their limits. So, we created it… According to its fans, the Killer Tower lives up to its name!
